A rejuvenation for your soul – walking shelter dogs in HK forests!

Released: 10/12/2018

Especially if you're new to HK, you should quickly get familiar with what so many students had discovered already – just how amazingly therapeutical it is to take a break and visit a dog shelter with lovely dogs to walk! Located at the foot of what locals call “Hradečnice” (map), the dog shelter offers dog walks for volunteers every day of the week except Tuesdays.

Registration is simple and it's entirely up to you how often do you want to walk – so you can take a break any time!

For your very first visit, don't forget to bring your passport. In the beginning, you will be signing a written agreement stating the basic rules. The most important ones are:

  • Keep the dog safe.

  • Treat the dog with care and consideration.

  • Do not let the dog run loose.

  • Do not take the muzzle off.

  • Do not leave the dog alone.

  • You are taking full responsibility for damage or loss of the equipment (muzzle, leash) or the dog.

For a fee of 50 CZK, you will obtain a volunteer card with a barcode. The data on it serve for identification purposes and even contain the history of dogs you've been walking!

A recommended length of a walk is 1 hour. The opening hours are:

Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday:

AM: 10 – 11 (return latest by 12)

PM: 1 – 3:30 (return latest by 5)

Saturday and Sunday:

AM: 10 – 11 (return latest by 12)

PM: 1 – 3:30 (return latest by 4)

There is no dog walking on TUESDAYS.

Now go and fun with your new furry friends!
